The secret to healthy aging is being proactive about your health and working towards wellness. This includes staying active, eating right, staying involved in your community, and regular visits with your primary care provider. Droobi believes that the earlier you work towards wellness the better. So, here is a 10 checklist items for a healthy aging you can follow:

 

  1. Manage stress and know when to talk to someone about your mental health. You can also seek activities that engage the brain: crosswords, riddles, puzzles, reading, and stimulating conversation.

  2. Spend time with family and friends, participate in local events and Seek out community involvement and volunteer opportunities.

  3. Get the right nutrients, it will help you stay healthy and improve your quality of life as you get older.

  4. Know your food groups and understand how to read nutrition labels and choose correct portion sizes.

  5. Get enough sleep by sleeping seven to eight hour a day. Good quality sleep is critical to good health.

  6. Do not smoke. And avoid sedentary living.

  7. Do not rely on convenience foods or processed foods.

  8. Visit your primary care provider at least once a year and order screenings and tests as needed and advised.

  9. Get your heart rate up by exercising 3 times a week.

  10. Meditate, do yoga, and pray. Meditation releases nitric oxide which relaxes the blood vessels.

 

Always remember, making healthy choices is important throughout your life. Because the things you do today affect your health and quality of life in the future. it is never too late to start making healthy lifestyle changes. START NOW!
