In 2019, nearly 463 million adults around the world live with diabetes and 1 in 2 people with diabetes are undiagnosed. Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes and is affecting more and more people of all ages.

 

In fact, there are many risk factors associated with type 2 diabetes like:

  1. Family history of diabetes

  5. Low level of HDL cholesterol, or a high level of triglycerides

  6. History of gestational diabetes or gave birth to a baby weighing 4kg or more

  • Poor eating habits

It is true you can’t change your genes, medical history or age, however you can substantially lower your risk of developing type 2 diabetes by changing  your lifestyle habits like adopting healthy eating, managing stress, being more active and aiming for a healthy weight.
